Afghan commandos have stormed two buildings at the Kabul airport to bring an end to a four-hour siege launched by Taliban militants.

Police say that all seven militants involved in the gun and grenade attack are dead, and there are no police or civilian casualties."There were seven assailants. Two [suicide bombers] died detonating themselves and five others were killed in fighting," said Mohammad Ayoub Salangi, the chief of Kabul police.There have not been any casualties to the security forces, and we have not [received] any report of civilian casualties so far.The attackers took up positions inside a partially constructed building next to the international airport and fought Afghan security forces for about four hours before the raid ended.Mr Salangi said a van packed with explosives hidden under vegetables was destroyed when security forces fired a rocket-propelled grenade at it.
